Who knows the emotion that came from the ocean....
When Mermaids, in myths, did appear....
And who can imagine a sea roving captain....
Reporting such creatures with fear....
For of all the tales told by the sea roaming bold....
On the ships, that returned to their port....
The reports were of fright, when a she-fish, at night....
Would capture a man—just for sport....
Explaining in haste, it began at the waist....
As the line that divided this love....
With a fish tail below, that emitted a glow....
And a woman’s fair body above....
Now the sailors on shore, told the tales by the score....
How the mermaids would work on the waves....
With their beautiful song, they would lure men along....
And would take them below to their graves....
But who could set blame to this tireless game....
‘Cause we now know the ultimate goal....
Was the mermaid’s first wish just to share a man’s kiss....
For the chance of an immortal soul....
Today, they are fair with their long flowing hair....
A water sprite bringing a joy....
No longer a fright, they now bring delight....
To each curious girl or boy....
No greater emotion can come from the ocean....
Where ships of all sizes may sail....
Than the children’s surprise, with such glow in their eyes....
When I put on my mystical tail....
